Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her initial roles on Broadway include in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across the stage, film and TV and she continues that award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that brought us Hamilton is directing the musical. Ashford was last seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the nation's first impeachment proceedings over a Century. In two seasons, Ashford played a prominent role in the hit show on CBS called B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Some other Broadway roles for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
