Perry was born on the 25th of July 1968 in Chicago In Illinois, she was the child of Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. Her first television appearances were as Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother played the character. The actress did not go on to pursue acting as a career until after she had reached the age of adulthood due to her parents being afraid of the negative impact stress might be a cause of. Perry states that she did not want to be an actor in high school but decided to take up performing as a form of social interaction at Northwestern University when she switched to the university from Boston University. Perry started her acting career as an actress in New York after graduation, getting small parts on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In the year 2015, she was together with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. In 2016, Perry appeared on nine episodes on ABC's drama The Family. In 2017, Perry starred in an appearance on ABC's political thriller Scandal along with her father. The actress was also featured on The CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger of Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. The role was offered to her in an audition that was open despite having a connection to this persona.
