Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actress. She sings as well. She was raised by her mother, in the USA. She was subjected to racial taunts and made to feel unwanted. In the 9th grade, she began to feel more secure after being applauded by her teachers for her performance at school's audition. Not only did it boost her confidence but her dreams transformed. She graduated at the age of 22 with a degree from the Julliard School in New York. She began her career at age 23 with Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and the film You've Got Mail. The biggest success of her career came in the role of The Lady of The Lake on Spamalot's first Broadway production. She did not only get the Tony Award, but her performance was also highly praised by critics. The recognition grew even more by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. As a professional singer She has also recorded one single and an extensive work. Also, she's an activist and is a tireless advocate in the fight for LGBT rights.
